Members began gathering in Manchester for service in the mid-1990s. At the time, Pr Joseph Shek would visit the believers in the Manchester, Warrington and Liverpool areas, however, there was no fixed location for worship, and the workers would need to find accommodation. In Autumn 1999, two sisters and a brother started to meet at the University Halls of residence for Sabbath service whenever the preacher visited. The UKGA eventually passed a motion to purchase a flat for the brethren to use as a base for services. By God’s grace, a property was purchased in Manchester (32 Chevassut Street) on 4 July 2002. 

As the church grew, RE classes were established around the early 2010s. Currently, Manchester Place of Worship has two RE classes. The younger RE class covers students from three to eight years old and is conducted in Mandarin. The older RE class is taught in English.

A new, larger property was later purchased for worship on 15 May 2016 at 31 St Andrew’s Street. There are now thirty to forty members regularly attending service in Manchester. On a typical Sabbath day, there are two services; one from 11:30 to 12:30 and a second service from 1:30 to 2:30. Lunch is usually provided for the members in between the two services.
