About Us

Our Mission

The mission of the True Jesus Church is to spread the gospel of salvation to all the world, to make all peoples disciples of the Lord Jesus, and to teach the disciples to obey everything the Lord Jesus commanded. The church strives to adorn herself to be ready to welcome the Lord’s return (Rev 21:2).

About Us

The True Jesus Church originated in Beijing, China in 1917. The Holy Spirit revealed the truth to the early workers and established the True Jesus Church. Since then, the gospel of salvation has spread from east to west across the world, and to date it has a history of more than a hundred years.

The True Jesus Church was not founded by certain individuals. Neither was it derived from any denomination. It was founded by the Holy Spirit. By His grace and mercy, God our Father established the True Jesus Church to restore the church of the apostolic days. Everywhere that this gospel of the kingdom is preached, we witness the Lord Jesus pouring out the promised Holy Spirit. Those who receive the Holy Spirit speak in tongues, just as when the apostles first received the Holy Spirit (Acts 10:4711:17). By the authority given by the Holy Spirit, the True Jesus Church baptizes in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of sins (Jn 20:21-23Acts 2:38).

London Church – The Early Beginnings

True Jesus Church in London first began to hold gatherings in the late 1950’s. Since November 1966, our members in London had been holding regular services on Saturdays and Friday nights.

Services were held across London: in Chiswick from October 1970; in Bounds Green from July 1972; and in Holloway from November 1975.

London Church at Pitfield Street

From the Spring of 1981, the suggestion of purchasing our own church premises in London was given much consideration. By the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, a building belonging to the Salvation Army at 194 Pitfield Street was found and bought with much financial aid from members in Edinburgh, Scotland. On 27th November 1982, we finally moved into our church building. There were over 250 members from the UK and overseas that attended the dedication.

London Church at Old Street

In 1992, the membership of London Church had increased to approximately 175 members. The Church Board came up with the proposal to either search for new premises or to extend the church building. By the grace of God and his wonderful arrangement, the church managed to secure a spacious five-storey commercial building situated not far away from the existing church premises. London Church was dedicated to the Lord on 23rd June 1997.

London Church Today

Amongst the members, it is obvious that some of them are locals. Many of the others were and are students from overseas. Many of them are now residents of the UK. The congregation comes from many countries such as Hong Kong, Ghana, West Indies, East and West Malaysia, Taiwan, Nigeria, Turkey, Singapore, China and others.
By the grace of God, the True Jesus Church in London marks its 40th anniversary in 2023. Read more about the 40th anniversary in our publication: 40th Anniversary

What We Believe 10 Basic Beliefs

Jesus Christ

the Word who became flesh, died on the cross for the redemption of sinners, resurrected on the third day, and ascended to heaven. He is the only Saviour of mankind, the Creator of the heavens and earth, and the only true God.

Water Baptism

Water baptism is the sacrament for the remission of sins for regeneration. The baptism must take place in natural living water, such as the river, sea, or spring. The Baptist, who already has had received baptism of water and the Holy Spirit, conducts the baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. And the person receiving the baptism must be completely immersed in water with head bowed and face downward.

Sabbath Day

The Sabbath day, the seventh day of the week (Saturday), is a holy day, blessed and sanctified by God. It is to be observed under the Lord’s grace for the commemoration of God’s creation and salvation, and with the hope of eternal rest in the life to come.

Holy Bible

The Holy Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, is inspired by God, the only scriptural truth, and the standard for Christian living.

Holy Spirit

Receiving the Holy Spirit, evidenced by speaking in tongues, is the guarantee of our inheritance of the kingdom of heaven.

Holy Communion

The Holy Communion is the sacrament to commemorate the death of the Lord Jesus Christ. It enables us to partake of the flesh and blood of our Lord and to be in communion with Him so that we can have eternal life and be raised on the last day. This sacrament shall be held as often as possible. Only one unleavened bread and grape juice shall be used.

Salvation

Salvation is given by the grace of God through faith. Believers must rely on the Holy Spirit to pursue holiness, to honor God, and to love humanity.

True Jesus Church

The True Jesus Church, established by our Lord Jesus Christ, through the Holy Spirit during the time of the ‘latter rain’, is the restored true church of the apostolic time.

Footwashing

The sacrament of footwashing enables one to have a part with the Lord Jesus. It also serves as a constant reminder that one should have love, holiness, humility, forgiveness, and service. Every person who has received water baptism must have his/her feet washed in the name of Jesus Christ. Mutual footwashing may be practiced whenever is appropriate.

Second Coming

The Lord’s Second Coming will take place on the last day when He descends from heaven to judge the world: the righteous will receive eternal life, while the wicked will be eternally condemned.
